Medical files are a complete documentation of health history. Contrary to popular belief, the Physician
owns and is legally accountable for these records, not the patient. Medical files contain highly confidential information
which is critical to preserve in a secured, professional environment. Standard criteria such as a patient's address,
prescribed medications and health history are documented. In addition, driver licences, credit card and social
insurance numbers may be included for the Physician's reference. Should any of this information be damaged, misplaced,
or misdirected, the Physician may be subject to litigation.
